A Bit About Me:

My name is Shane Mumby, and dealing with lumber, chainsaws, and woodworking has been something that I have done since I was sixteen years old ( I am thirty now). My wife and I own quite a bit of land that has good timber of all types on it. We inherited a 2000sq ft log home and also bought the farm across the road from it with the intent to rent out the log house. However before we could do that we needed to put on a very large wrap around deck on the house, as the old one was in rough shape. We wanted it all done in cedar and then priced it out (it was going to cost 'a lot'). So we started thinking about the timber resources we already had and then in 2007 we purchased a Norwood Lumberlite Sawmill. Well it was actually thousands cheaper to buy the sawmill, and with the timber off our own land my tenants now have a deck with 6 x 6 uprights and  2 x 8 floor joists done all in cedar for less than half the cost of buying the lumber.

I find that milling on weekends works best for me but am still able to do small jobs throughout the weekday. Sometimes I am able to bring my wonderful wife with me to help out.
